Mark Leslie Lefebvre was born in Canada and began writing stories in public school. At the age of thirteen, he completed his first novel on an Underwood typewriter. He later graduated from Carleton University in 1992, the same year he published his first story, a humorous young adult piece. “That’s when I started thinking I could be a real writer,” he has said.

In 2006, he joined McMaster University as Book Operations Manager. He introduced Canada’s second Espresso Book Machine there and developed the Titles on Demand brand.

He worked as Director of Self-Publishing & Author Relations at Kobo from 2011. At Kobo, he created Kobo Writing Life, a self-publishing platform. “We built it with the author in mind,” he explained, emphasising the platform’s accessibility. Lefebvre also served as president of the Canadian Booksellers Association and sat on the board of BookNet Canada from 2008 to 2014.

His fiction focuses on horror and speculative tales. His story, Phantom Mitch, published in Wicked Mystic (1993), received honourable mention in The Year’s Best Fantasy & Horror #7. He has since contributed to anthologies including Stardust, Bound for Evil, and 2113: Stories Inspired by the Music of Rush. He collected early stories in One Hand Screaming (2004) and has released chapbooks like Bumps in the Night and Tricky Treats.

Lefebvre’s first novel, Evasion (2014), is a thriller set in a Toronto office. That year, he also published I, Death, a horror novel later re-released by Edge in 2016. His novel A Canadian Werewolf in New York appeared in 2016, following a character cursed with lycanthropy.

He has edited anthologies such as North of Infinity II (2006), Campus Chills (2009), and Tesseracts 16 (2012). He also contributed to the Fiction River series from WMG Publishing, editing volumes such as Feel the Fear (2017).
