Philip Kaplan

Philip Kaplan is an American author and former art director, best known for his books on aviation and naval history. Born in California, he worked as an art director at Playboy before transitioning to writing full-time.

His first significant success, "One Last Look," explored the lives of American servicemen stationed in England during World War II. It sold up to 90,000 copies and marked the beginning of his long engagement with military history.

Kaplan has since published over twenty titles, including The Few, Wolfpack, Convoy, Fly Navy, Run Silent, Grey Wolves, and Mustang The Inspiration. His books have been released by Abbeville, Cassell, Random House, Aurum, and Pen and Sword. Collectively, his works have sold more than a quarter of a million copies worldwide.

Philip Kaplan moved to Cheltenham, United Kingdom, after meeting and marrying the English author Margaret Mayhew.
