I am not dumb, it's just that I tend to grasp things a little slower than normal people. But I really am trying.

It marvels me that the kid thinks I hate her. Ha. If I detested her then I would not have been paying such close attention to her.

Now back to my por—I mean, Mr. Todd's chest. Jesus, why would I even think that?

"I-I am so sorry!" I start to shuffle off him, but my knee ends up pressing into his groin.

"Fuck!" He seethes, groping his center as he shuts his eyes, and I gasp.

"Oh my God!" On first instinct I hold onto 'it' apologetically, but quickly release it when I realize what I am doing.

She resents herself. Why is she slow? Why is she such a disappointment? Why is she always screwing things up?

"Stop crying."

She presses her lips together but it doesn't hold the whimpers in.

He holds her cheek. "Stop."

"Kelly Young," he starts, and I hold my breath. "Do you really think you can escape this...the same way you escaped trying to kiss me last night?"

"They are not the slimmest..."

"So? What's wrong with that?"

I look over at him, and he meets my gaze. "Mm?"

"Keep looking at me. I am not done talking."
