~~~~~ PG Excerpt ~~~~~
“Mom!”
“Claire!” I hissed. “Please!”
“What is it?” Mom called out from downstairs.
“Can you come up here? I’m in Alex’s room.”
“Are you two fighting again?”
“Just come up, please!”
“Give me a minute, I’m making tea.”
“You got a minute.” Claire strode back over. “Socks. Now.”
“Promise not to tell?”
“Not if you keep being stupid.”
I was going to get found out no matter what so may as well take the chance Claire might be content to keep this as an all-time ‘you owe me’ moment.
I slid my hand under the mattress and pulled out the socks. I grimaced at the large stains on both of them, and how stiff they had gotten.
My face flushing, I put them in her hand.
“Ewww,” she scrunched her face up. “You didn’t even wash them!”
“I forgot they were there and….”
“Jerking off into your sister’s socks.” She looked genuinely stunned. “Damn.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Did you think about me?” Claire asked and there was no smirk on her face or mocking tone.
“I…well…” Mom’s footsteps became louder. “Just your feet.”
“So, they…”
“What is it, Claire?” Mom poked her head into the room. “I need to get back downstairs, your father’s bringing a friend from work over for dinner.”
“Oh, sorry.” Claire balled the socks up in her hand turned to her. “I was going crazy looking for my pink socks, but Alex found them in his hamper.”
“And left everything on the floor,” Mom frowned.
“Sorry, Mom. I’ll pick it up.”
“Okay,” Mom gave Claire an annoyed look. “Really got me up here because you were missing one of your hundred pairs of socks? Seriously, Claire, stop being such a damn diva.”
“Sorry, mama,” Claire batted her eyes and mom muttered. “Save that stupid look for your father,” then left to go back downstairs.
“Thank you.” I felt relief flooding through me. “I promise I…”
“This isn’t over.”
“Huh?”
“Tomorrow Mom and Dad are driving to Boston and staying overnight for her bosses wedding, remember?”
“Yeah, what’s that got to do with this?”
“When you come home from work we’re going to talk about this.” She held up the socks. “Not cool, little brother. You owe me for this, and you will be footing that bill.”
“But you promised.”
“I promised to leave mom and dad out of it. I didn’t say I was done with you. You owe me for violating my privacy and being disgusting with my things.”
“Fine,” as long as our parents didn’t know. “Whatever you want.”
“I like that,” she patted my face with the stiff socks. “I’m keeping these so if you don’t play along, I’ll hand them to dad.” She shrugged. “But who knows,” she spoke while walking out of the room. “Maybe you’ll like it to.”
I had no idea what that was supposed to mean, but when she was gone, I sat down on the edge of the bed feeling drained from coming that close to my mother finding out her son jerked off to feet, including his sisters.
I had no idea what mean girl stunt Claire was going to pull, but it wouldn’t be as bad as being humiliated by my mother and grounded forever by Dad.
‘Maybe you’ll like it to,” I repeated under my breath.
Yeah, I doubt that was going to be the case.
