“It’s brilliant.”
I blink at her, not sure I’ve heard her right. She runs her hand over my cheek, pulling me closer, staring into my eyes. Not with fear now, but with fondness, desire.
“You’re brilliant, Scarlett.”
When she kisses me, I’m so shocked, it takes me a second to respond. But then I melt into her, gripping her waist like a lifeline. Brilliant. She thinks I’m brilliant.
I’ve finally found someone who accepts my monstrous side, and now I’m going to lose her. I can’t let Stright live, and I can’t let her go, but I can let the rest of the world fade away for this one brief moment.
I squeeze my eyes shut and keep kissing her.
