Michelle Godard-Richer is a Canadian author of thrillers, romances, and horror fiction. She is best known for Fatal Hunt (2022), the award-winning first book of the Fatal Series, and for her psychological thrillers Into the Fog (2023) and Accident or Murder? (2025). Her work often explores guilt, revenge, and survival, blending criminal psychology with fast-paced suspense.
Born and based in Alberta, Godard-Richer holds a degree in Criminology from the University of Ottawa, a background that informs her understanding of motive and justice. She began her career exploring the darker aspects of human nature, creating strong protagonists and morally complex antagonists.
Her debut novel, Fatal Hunt (2022), introduced readers to Jessica and Jon Kent, a couple haunted by the past and hunted by a mobster. The book’s success led to Fatal Witness (2023) and Fatal Stand (2025), which continue the Kent family's story. In an interview, she said: “Both of my main characters had a lot of baggage and they each had their own story to tell, so I actually found it easier to swap perspectives to get into both of their heads.”
Her 2023 release Into the Fog presented a different kind of isolation thriller. Set in the fictional Ghost Town, it follows a mother trapped with strangers as they begin to vanish one by one. The book strengthened her reputation for tense, atmospheric storytelling.
In 2024, she contributed the horror novella Angel of Death to a Friday the 13th anthology. The story follows Maya, who faces both human and supernatural threats on a cursed night in Gideon’s Hollow. Godard-Richer described writing horror as “a blast,” adding that she is “a lifelong fan of the genre.”
She also revisited her historical mystery duology, first titled Back in Time with Jelly Beans and Forward in Time with Jelly Beans, reissued as Whispers of the Past and Whispers from the Future in 2025. “Thanks to Next Chapter Publishing,” she said, “they’ve gotten a facelift with great new covers, and they will now be available worldwide in print for the first time.”
Her recent novel Accident or Murder? (2025) is a psychological thriller centred on obsession and vengeance.
