Minna Howard is a British writer known for contemporary romance and family drama. She is the author of A Winter Affair (2016), A Dad of His Own (2018), A Mother’s Secret (2020), and The Christmas Menagerie (2020). She is also known for her earlier work as a fashion journalist.
Minna Howard was born in Britain and began her career in London. Her first job was, in her words, “as a dog’s body at Queen magazine.” She later moved to Paris to work at Jardins des Modes, where she gained early experience in fashion journalism.
After her marriage, she wrote under her married name, Mary de Laszlo. She published 10 novels under that name before beginning to write as Minna Howard.
She has published eight novels under the name Minna Howard. Her latest novel is The Christmas Menagerie (2020). The story follows Amelia, who faces her first Christmas alone after her husband's death. Her quiet plans change when the new village vet closes the local kennels.
Amelia must care for many pets left without homes, including a loud parrot, two tortoises, and a group of baby mice. Her home becomes busy, and she spends time with Jules, the vet. She sees him as a short-term part of village life, yet she feels drawn to him. As the novel progresses, we see her slow return to warmth and trust.
Minna Howard continued to write while raising three children. She later said that she enjoyed the mix of family life and work. She has three grandchildren and often spends time with them. She also works as a film and television extra at times.
Howard lives in London and now writes full-time.
