Nathan Evans

Nathan Evans is a British writer, director and performer. He is best known for his work in theatre, film and cabaret, and for All the Young Queers (2025), a collection of short stories published during LGBTQ+ History Month. His earlier work includes the novella One Last Song and two collections of poetry, Cnut and Threads.

Nathan Evans studied Fine Art at Oxford University. His creative career has spanned several media. His stage work has been performed at the Soho Theatre, the Royal Court and the Royal Festival Hall. He has collaborated with artists such as David Hoyle and The Tiger Lillies. His films have screened at the Curzon and Picturehouse cinemas and won awards at the London Short Film Festival. His work has been broadcast by Channel 4 and archived by the BFI Mediatheque.

He co-founded Inkandescent, a press he set up with Justin David. Their publishing work supports literature and art by voices often marginalised by mainstream platforms. Inkandescent is committed to transgressive and original writing.

One Last Song marked Evans' fiction debut and was praised for its portrayal of queer elders. His follow-up, All the Young Queers (2025), focuses on the other end of the spectrum. The book includes nine stories, each focused on a queer character between the ages of sixteen and twenty-four. Set in cities, universities and speculative futures, the collection explores themes of class, climate crisis and chemsex with wit and empathy.

Evans described the project: "They explore our adolescent years through a character between the ages of sixteen and twenty-four who are often tick-boxed together." The stories mix realism with imagination, offering snapshots of queer life at its most vulnerable and vibrant.
