Poppy Dolan

Poppy Dolan is a British author of romantic comedy novels. She is best known for The Bad Boyfriends Bootcamp (2017) and The Bluebell Bunting Society. Her work focuses on friendship, family, and everyday triumphs, often with humour and heart.

From a young age, Poppy Dolan was drawn to books and language. "I even read the illustrated children's dictionary," she says. Before writing full-time, she worked in publishing and marketing. She began writing fiction more seriously over a decade ago, inspired by the books she loved to read.

Her early novels include There's More to Life Than Cupcakes, based on her experiences. It was followed by The Woolly Hat Knitting Club, which she describes as "an uplifting, funny story" about community, happiness, and loyalty.

The Bluebell Bunting Society tells the story of Connie, a young woman who works to save her village hall from closing. Set in the fictional village of Hazelhurst, the novel explores themes of identity, home, and determination. With humour and warmth, the book focuses on local activism and creativity. Connie's plan to save the hall involves sewing bunting and rallying the support of her neighbours.

Dolan is also known for her enthusiasm for crafting and baking. "I'm a badass knitter," she said, citing a woolly Christmas wreath as one of her proudest creations. Her creative hobbies often inspire her fiction and appear as part of her characters' lives.

Dolan describes writing as an escape. Being playful and writing "first kiss moments" are her favourite parts of the process. She believes that happy endings are important, but says that even a sad ending can bring hope.

Poppy Dolan lives in Berkshire with her husband.
