Giles Ekins

Giles Ekins is a British author known for his work in crime, horror, thrillers, short stories and children's literature. He is the creator of the DCI Grace Swan series, including Dead Girl Found, Murder by Illusion, and most recently, Gangland Killings Don't Count (2024), a fast-paced crime novel that explores revenge, survival, and justice.

Giles Ekins was born in the North East of England and trained as an architect in London. He has spent much of his professional life overseas, working on architectural projects in Nigeria, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. His work has ranged from royal palaces to hospitals, leisure centres and luxury hotels.

Ekins' fiction draws on his global experience and his interest in human psychology. Gangland Killings Don't Count (2024) follows DCI Grace Swan as she fights for her life in the burning ruins of Tetney Hall. Her colleague, DS Terry Horton, risks his own life to save her.

Elsewhere in West Garside, a predator prowls the streets while a young woman fears the release of her violent ex-husband from prison. In Spain, Chloe Macbeth, a conflicted assassin, is forced to question her alliances as danger approaches. Ekins weaves these threads into a tightly plotted narrative of pursuit and reckoning.

Alongside his crime novels, Ekins has published the suspense thriller Gallows Walk (2020), the supernatural horror novel Sinistrari (2021) and the children's book The Adventures of a Travelling Cat (2021). He continues to write across genres and enjoys sport and travel.

Giles Ekins lives in Sheffield with his wife Patricia.
