Greg Sarris

Gregory Michael Sarris is a college professor, acclaimed author, screenwriter and scholar, holds an Endowed Chair in Native American Studies within the School of Arts and Humanities at Sonoma State University. A Santa Rosa native, Sarris has published several books, including the widely anthologized collection of essays, "Keeping Slug Woman Alive: A Holistic Approach to American Indian Texts," and "Watermelon Nights." his best known book, "Grand Avenue," was made into an HBO miniseries, which Sarris wrote and executive produced with Robert Redford. He currently serves as chairman of his tribe, the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria.
