Barry Finlay

Barry Finlay lives in Ottawa, Canada. He is retired from a career as an accountant with the Canadian federal government but he is also an award winning wood sculptor. Now he is also a multiple award winning author. His latest book, a work of fiction entitled The Vanishing Wife, was named the best eBook in the Thriller/Mystery category by New Apple Literary Awards.Barry's first book, written with his son Chris, is entitled Kilimanjaro and Beyond - A Life-Changing Journey. It documents his climb of Africa's tallest mountain at age 60 with Chris and their work to help some very needy children in Tanzania. The book has won two Reader Views awards and was a finalist in the Eric Hoffer New Horizon competition. His second book, a humorous travel memoir won the Reader Views award for Best Travel Book.Barry has been named to the Authors Show's list of "50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading." He is continuing to raise money to help young women and youth in Africa start small businesses to extract them from the cycle of poverty they find themselves in. A portion of the proceeds from book sales will benefit the project.Barry is a recipient of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal for his philanthropic work.
