    64. Shake up your routine
If you always stick to the same running routine, your body will get used to what you’re asking it to do, and your fitness level will hit a plateau. Instead, you need to keep on setting yourself new challenges so you keep getting fitter and keep looking better and better! Try the different training plans in and see Tip 70.

What counts is that you feel as if you’re working and challenging yourself a little, but not killing yourself and gasping for breath. When you take your walk break, the idea is to slow down enough to recover, but try to make it brisk rather than at window-shopping pace!

And finally, remember, DO NOT RACE! The idea is to start out very slow and steady and complete the session, rather than burn out in ten seconds and vow you’ll never go running again. When we say ‘run’ we mean find a pace that’s faster than a walk – waddling, shuffling, staggering, jogging or really stepping it out all count.
