The model for Two World's Trail is a real Athabascan family that has graciously agreed to have their story told in a fictional, respectful manner. The author, Richard W. Coleman, is part of this family. Two World's Trail is a fact based fictional story of a young Athabascan Indian finding his way in both the primitive and modern world of Alaska. Shane Joseph's ancestors were a nomadic people that followed the wild game and fish, as well as the seasons, for survival. Shane was born into an urban lifestyle that continues the old ways while still functioning in the 21st century. Shane dreams of finding his ancestral self and when given the chance he grabbed it with gusto. Later, floating down the Yukon River and near death, Shane finds his trail.
