The Holy Spirit is the divine author, originator and producer of the scriptures. The Holy Spirit has three main functions in evangelism: (1) He is the empowerer in evangelism (Acts 1:8), (2) He is the convictor in evangelism (John 16:8), (3) He is the revealer in evangelism (Romans 3:22). The Holy Spirit appoints, anoints and sends workers into the harvest. He is a consuming fire and a purifying agent. The Holy Spirit speaks to us in a still voice and guides us into all truth (John 16:13). The bible teaches that He is a person and is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is a built-in detector who preserves the saints in the truth. Jesus gave Nicodemus a simple answer: “except a man be born of the water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God” (John 3:5). The Holy Spirit is God’s greatest gift to the church.
