A beautiful and sad story about people who aren’t able to simply explain their feelings to each other.
Genuinely loved the book. Fast-paced, characters with personality—each one unique, light enough to be an evening read & heavy enough not too bore me, realistic storyline & conflicts. Overall, a recommendation for those who like contemporary YA.
so far, the best book of the year. the book that has really left me speechless.
it’s so naïve and at the same time, a masterpiece.
a romantic (sometimes fun, but mostly sad) and truthful story about two people who look like real "us". people who have been growing together, not knowing what they really want, often making tremendous mistakes and never regretting about them, falling in love time and again, and endlessly rushing between "being friends-being in relationships-being no friends at all".
I absolutely loved the first half of this book. I enjoyed the dynamic between Connell and Marianne, how complex and unpredictable it was. Initially, i struggled with the prose format of the book. The lack of clear dialogue got me struggling to follow the voices of different individuals. As I kept reading however, i got the flow of the style the book is written in.
As for the cons, i think the last half of the book did nothing to drive the plot. It was bland, unchanging and predictable. I hated how there was no evolution of Marianne. She remained unchanged throughout the book leaving me frustrated.
I also disliked how the relationship between Marianne and Conell remained unchanged, despite the fact that the timeline kept shifting (in high school, college and even after that). Therefore, the timelines changed but the interaction between the characters was the same throughout. These cons made the last half of the book quite bland.
Overally, it was a great book to start my year off with. If you loved Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, this book is definitely for you.
⭐⭐⭐.5 stars
Light but perceptive. Great read.
A love that is alive is a love in conflict.
Overhyped.

No sé cómo sentirme respecto a este libro. El inicio es bueno, la trama a veces es desesperante pero coherente, ¿el final? WTF?
maybe this book isn't my "cup of tea". If you like romance and drama, you'll like it.
