Eleven-year-old Alira Sowan adores vivid watercolors and tapping rhythms on her desk. When she discovers magical paintbrushes in her grandmother’s attic, each brushstroke brings a matching musical beat to life—a drum for ochre, a marimba for cerulean, a piano chord for rose pink. With her percussion-minded friend Jorik Tavon, Alira explores color mixing and basic rhythm patterns, learning that blending hues creates melodies. Together, they recruit their neighborhood to paint and clap their way through basic notation and brush techniques. Their culminating “Soundscape Mural” for the town festival fills the community hall with swirling colors and layered rhythms, celebrating art’s joyful harmony.
