Another way to do this is by coloring all definitions in a specific color or working through your book topic by topic.

Color helps information stand out on what would otherwise be a black and white page. Use these pops of color wisely and carefully for maximum impact. After all, if everything is in color, nothing will stand out anymore!

    Change your environment
Do you live with noisy roommates? Maybe you only have a small study-space. Or maybe you've been staring at the wall for too long. Whatever the reason, a change of scenery can be great for improving mood and boosting focus.

Aim to visit a place that facilitates studying. A good example of this would be the library. Coffee-shops and cafes are fine too, as long as you have good headphones to block out any distractions. Pack a bag with all the basics that you'll need and change your location. I guarantee that it will give you a fresh perspective.

    Periodic Learning Strategies and Tips

To take full advantage of periodic learning, you need to create a schedule. Knowing when your big test is, and which topics you want to cover before that date, is essential for Periodic learning. If you are self-studying, you’ll need to create a self-imposed deadline.

Determine how much time you need to allocate to each topic and decide how you will organize your schedule.

Some of our suggestions for immersive learning are:

Speaking aloud, summarize the main points of the chapter that you’ve just read
Pick a difficult or complex topic and pretend to teach it to someone who has never read the textbook. Break it down simply and teach it.
Write down bullet-points of the topic you’re reviewing, and highlight keywords
Walk around while you’re speaking aloud. Stretch and move your body

    erbalize, teaching and note-taking

Now we’re going to take a look at the tools that you can use when you are actively studying. One of the best techniques for learning new information, quickly, is through verbalizing. Simply stating the information out loud can truly do wonders for ensuring that you commit that information to memory.

Speaking of memory, testing yourself is a great way to improve that. When you test yourself, you not only improve your recall, but you can find the weak spots in your knowledge. If you're drawing a complete blank on a question, then you should probably go back and review that portion of the chapter.

Text is great, but we need audio to fully explore and understand the work that we are processing.
